 Chocolate Salted Caramel Hummus

  • 300 g boiled chickpeas
  • 100 ml clear Olive oil
  • 4 tsp dark agave syrup
  • 4 tsp dark cocoa powder
  • 2 tsp salted caramel extract
  • Caramel curls/sprinkles to garnish
  • Toasted Pitta bread Oatcakes or fresh fruit to eat


  1. In a hand held blender cup mix the oil, extract, syrup and cocoa together with a wooden spoon
  2. Add the chickpeas and mix together
  3. Blend the mixture to desired consistency
  4. Transfer to a bowl
  5. Sprinkle with the caramel curls or sprinkles if desired
  6. Enjoy with pitta bread or fruit

Recipe notes

If you prefer to boil your chickpeas - remember to soak them for at least 3 hours or overnight for better results. Rinse thoroughly and boil with enough water to cover the chickpeas for at least 2 hours or until soft.
But if you don’t have the time go ahead and used a can of chickpeas.
