  • 1/2 cup Bengal gram / channa dal
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 inch ginger (chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • oil


Soak channa dal for 1 hour in water.

Drain the water and blend the channa dal and green chillies to a coarse paste.

Now transfer the coarse paste to a bowl.

Add salt, sesame seeds, ginger and mix well.

Shape them like vedas (i.e. fritters) and keep them ready.

Heat oil and fry these vadas to golden brown on both sides.

Serve them hot.
