Italian style food is all about simple, good quality ingredients, so beans and pulses are the perfect base for many Italian inspired dishes.
Pulses have long been a staple part of the Italian diet and ours are carefully selected then rigorously checked to ensure that only the best of the crop are chosen. Pasta e Fagioli (Pasta with Beans)
Finely chop 100g of pancetta and fry in olive oil, then add 1 x 400g tin of drained borlotti beans and set aside. Gently fry 1 finely chopped onion, 1 celery stalk, 1 carrot and 2 crushed cloves of garlic in some olive oil. Add 100g of Napolina chopped tomatoes and one or two ladles of chicken or vegetable stock and cook everything for a few minutes before adding the beans and pancetta. Cook 400g of a short pasta such as Napolina penne for 5 minutes, drain then add it to the bean soup, adding more stock if necessary. Continue to cook until the pasta is al dente and finish with a twist of black pepper.
Storage: Store in a cool dry place. Once opened empty, cover and refrigerate. Use within 2 days. Best Before End: See can end
